Full Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Karatu
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Arusha, heading southwest towards Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most underrated wildlife gems. Known for its vast elephant population and ancient baobab trees, Tarangire offers a unique and peaceful safari atmosphere compared to other parks.
Upon arrival, enjoy a full-day game drive across golden savannah plains, river valleys, and scattered acacia woodlands. The Tarangire River, the park’s lifeline, attracts incredible concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season. Expect to see large herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and possibly predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Bird lovers will also be delighted by over 500 bird species recorded in the park.
A picnic lunch will be served inside the park, allowing you to relax and soak in the surrounding wilderness.
In the late afternoon, exit the park and drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight at a budget lodge or campsite near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 2
Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
After an early breakfast, depart for the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders. Descend 600 meters into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera for an unforgettable wildlife experience.
The Ngorongoro Crater is often described as Africa’s “Garden of Eden” due to its high density of wildlife within a relatively small area. The crater floor is home to nearly 25,000 animals, including black rhinos, powerful lion prides, massive buffalo herds, hippos, spotted hyenas, and golden jackals. It is one of the best places in Tanzania to spot the endangered black rhino in its natural habitat.
Enjoy a half-day game drive across open grasslands, acacia forests, and soda lakes where flamingos can often be seen along the shoreline. A picnic lunch will be served near the hippo pool, offering a peaceful moment surrounded by wildlife and stunning crater walls.
In the afternoon, ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the early evening with incredible safari memories.
