Full Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a drive of approximately two to three hours to Tarangire National Park. The park is renowned for its ancient baobab trees, rolling savannah, and one of the largest elephant populations in Northern Tanzania.
Upon arrival, you begin a full game drive through the park’s varied habitats, including open plains, acacia woodlands, and riverine areas. The Tarangire River acts as a permanent water source, attracting elephants, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, and wildebeests throughout the year. Lions are frequently seen resting under trees or moving through tall grass, while leopards occasionally appear along the riverbanks. Birdlife is abundant, with over 500 species recorded in the park.
A picnic lunch is enjoyed inside the park, followed by continued game viewing in the afternoon. In the late afternoon, you depart for your selected midrange lodge near Karatu or the Ngorongoro highlands, where you will enjoy a comfortable room, hot shower, dinner, and overnight stay in a peaceful environment.

Day 2
Tarangire Area – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you drive to Lake Manyara National Park, located beneath the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. Though compact in size, the park offers remarkable ecological diversity, ranging from dense groundwater forests to open grasslands and the shallow alkaline lake.
Game drives in Lake Manyara provide opportunities to see elephants moving through the forest, large troops of baboons along the roadside, giraffes browsing in acacia woodlands, and hippos resting in the lake. The park is also well known for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior occasionally observed here. The lakeshore attracts flamingos and other water birds, creating a vibrant wildlife setting.
A picnic lunch is served inside the park, allowing time to enjoy the scenery before continuing with afternoon exploration. Later in the day, you return to your midrange lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3
Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha
An early breakfast prepares you for the highlight of the safari: a game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife areas. You descend approximately 600 meters to the crater floor, where a dense concentration of animals inhabits this natural volcanic amphitheater.
The crater supports lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, and hippos, along with a wide range of bird species. It is also one of the most reliable places in Tanzania to observe the endangered black rhino. The combination of grasslands, swamps, and soda lakes creates a compact yet highly productive ecosystem.
After a picnic lunch near a hippo pool, you ascend to the crater rim and begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon, where your safari with WAZO SAFARIS concludes.
