This four-day Tanzania safari is designed for travelers based in Zanzibar who want a smooth, well-paced journey through the Northern Safari Circuit without internal flights between parks. You fly from Zanzibar to Arusha Airport, then travel by road through some of northern Tanzania’s most wildlife-rich landscapes.
The route is carefully planned one night in Tarangire, two nights in the Serengeti, and a final game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater before returning to Arusha for your flight back to Zanzibar. The result is a safari that feels complete, unhurried, and grounded in real experience.

Day 1
Fly from Zanzibar to Arusha, Drive to Tarangire
Your safari begins with a morning flight from Zanzibar to Arusha Airport, where your private safari guide meets you on arrival. After a short briefing, you depart by road toward Tarangire National Park, passing through rural towns and open countryside as the landscape gradually changes.
Tarangire introduces you to a raw, less crowded side of Tanzania’s wilderness. The park is known for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant herds that move confidently across the plains. Game drives focus on the Tarangire River, a vital water source that attracts giraffes, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, and predators throughout the year. With only one night here, the emphasis is on quality rather than distance slowing down to observe behavior and absorb the atmosphere before heading to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2
Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you continue north toward Serengeti National Park, traveling through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where highlands and Maasai grazing lands replace open savannah. The journey itself is part of the experience, offering insight into changing ecosystems and rural life.
Entering the Serengeti feels like crossing into a different scale of wilderness. Game drives begin immediately, with wide plains supporting large herds of plains game and a strong presence of predators. Lions resting on kopjes, cheetahs scanning the horizon, and endless lines of wildebeest and zebra define the day. As evening approaches, you arrive at your camp in time to settle in and enjoy the stillness of the Serengeti night.

Day 3
Full Day Serengeti Safari
A full day in the Serengeti allows the safari to slow into its natural rhythm. Early morning game drives reveal predators at their most active, while the soft light highlights the vastness of the plains. Your guide adapts the day’s route based on wildlife movement, exploring river systems, open grasslands, or rocky outcrops where animals gather.
A picnic lunch keeps you immersed in the landscape, followed by a relaxed afternoon drive that focuses on behavior rather than speed. This second night in the Serengeti is essential it gives time for wildlife encounters to unfold organically and for the scale of the ecosystem to truly sink in.

Day 4
Ngorongoro Crater & Return to Arusha
After an early start, you depart the Serengeti and travel toward the Ngorongoro Crater, descending into one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife areas. The crater floor hosts an extraordinary concentration of animals, including black rhino, large elephant bulls, lions, buffalo, hippos, and abundant birdlife, all within a compact and visually dramatic setting.
Following a picnic lunch inside the crater, you ascend the rim and drive back to Arusha. Your safari concludes with a transfer to Arusha Airport for your flight back to Zanzibar, marking the end of a journey that moves seamlessly from island to savannah and back again.
