The itinerary includes Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, two nights in the iconic Serengeti National Park, and a concluding game drive inside the extraordinary Ngorongoro Crater.
The structure of this safari allows gradual progression through varied ecosystems, from river-fed savannah to Rift Valley forest, then into the vast Serengeti plains, and finally into the compact wildlife haven of the Ngorongoro Crater. Full Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a drive of approximately two to three hours to Tarangire National Park. The park is recognized for its expansive savannah landscapes, seasonal wetlands, and iconic baobab trees.
Upon arrival, you begin your game drive along the Tarangire River, a key water source that attracts elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeests throughout the year. Tarangire supports one of the highest elephant densities in the region, and large family groups are frequently observed. Lions are commonly seen resting in shaded areas, while leopards occasionally appear in riverine woodland.
A picnic lunch is served inside the park, followed by continued exploration in the afternoon. In the late day, you proceed to your midrange lodge near the Ngorongoro highlands or Karatu area for dinner and overnight.

Day 2
Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, you drive to Lake Manyara National Park, situated at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Though smaller in size, the park offers remarkable ecological diversity within a compact area.
Game drives pass through groundwater forest, open grasslands, and along the alkaline lakeshore. Elephants are frequently observed moving through the forest, while large troops of baboons are common near the park entrance. The park is known for occasional sightings of tree-climbing lions. Along the lake, hippos and water birds, including flamingos, create a dynamic wildlife setting.
After a picnic lunch and afternoon game drive, you return to your midrange lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3
Lake Manyara Area – Serengeti National Park
Following breakfast, you depart for Serengeti National Park, traveling through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you approach the Serengeti, the terrain gradually opens into vast grasslands that define this globally recognized ecosystem.
Upon entering the park, you begin a game drive en route to your lodge or tented camp in Central Serengeti. The region maintains high wildlife density year-round. Lions are commonly found resting on rocky kopjes, cheetahs patrol open plains, and leopards inhabit riverine vegetation. Herds of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move across the savannah in large numbers.
Dinner and overnight are at a midrange tented camp or lodge, offering comfort within close reach of prime wildlife areas.

Day 4
Full Day in Serengeti National Park
This day is dedicated entirely to exploring the Serengeti. Morning and afternoon game drives allow for flexible routing based on wildlife activity.
Predator sightings are frequent in Central Serengeti, particularly lions and hyenas, while leopards may be located in riverine zones. Elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and various antelope species are regularly observed. If traveling during migration months, large herds of wildebeests may be present depending on seasonal movements.
A picnic lunch is enjoyed within the park, allowing extended time in the field. In the late afternoon, you return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5
Serengeti – Ngorongoro Highlands
After breakfast, you enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti before departing toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive offers scenic transitions from open plains to cooler highland terrain.
Arriving at the Ngorongoro highlands in the afternoon, you check in at your midrange lodge located near the crater rim. The elevated position provides expansive views of the surrounding landscape. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing time to rest before the following morning’s crater descent.

Day 6
Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, you descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and supports a dense population of wildlife within its natural volcanic boundaries.
The crater floor hosts lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, and hyenas. It is also one of the most reliable locations in Tanzania to observe the endangered black rhino. The enclosed ecosystem, composed of grasslands, freshwater lakes, and woodland patches, sustains around 25,000 animals throughout the year.
Following a picnic lunch near a hippo pool, you ascend to the rim and begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon where your safari with WAZO SAFARIS concludes.
