Day 1

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a drive of approximately two to three hours to Tarangire National Park. The park is known for its wide savannah landscapes, seasonal swamps, and distinctive baobab trees.

Upon arrival, you begin your game drive through areas surrounding the Tarangire River, a permanent water source attracting elephants, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, and wildebeests throughout the year. The park supports one of the largest elephant populations in northern Tanzania, and sightings of large family groups are common. Lions are frequently observed resting under acacia trees, while leopards may occasionally be seen in riverine vegetation. After a picnic lunch inside the park, you continue exploring before proceeding to your midrange lodge for dinner and overnight.

Game drives offer opportunities to observe elephants moving through dense forest, large troops of baboons, giraffes, hippos, and numerous bird species along the lakeshore. The park is also associated with occasional sightings of tree-climbing lions. A picnic lunch is served within the park, followed by continued exploration in the afternoon. Day 3

Lake Manyara – Central Serengeti National Park

Following breakfast, you depart for Serengeti National Park, driving through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and entering the Serengeti ecosystem by midday. As the landscape transitions into open plains, wildlife sightings often begin before reaching camp.

An afternoon game drive in Central Serengeti introduces you to one of Africa’s most wildlife-dense regions. Lions are commonly found resting on rocky kopjes, cheetahs patrol open grasslands, and leopards inhabit riverine corridors. Large herds of wildebeests and zebras move across the plains, forming the foundation of the Serengeti food chain. In the evening, you arrive at your midrange tented camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

Full Day in Central Serengeti

This day is dedicated to in-depth exploration of Central Serengeti. Morning and afternoon game drives allow flexibility to track wildlife movements across different sectors of the park.

Predator sightings are particularly strong in this region, with lions, leopards, and hyenas frequently observed. Elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and various antelope species are present throughout the year. A picnic lunch is enjoyed within the park to maximize time in the field. In the late afternoon, you return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Central Serengeti – Ndutu Area

After breakfast, you travel south toward the Ndutu area, part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem. Ndutu features open plains and seasonal lakes that attract significant wildlife concentrations, especially during the migration and calving seasons.

An afternoon game drive in Ndutu provides opportunities to observe large herds of wildebeests and zebras, along with predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas that follow the prey movements. The open terrain enhances visibility and photographic conditions. Dinner and overnight are at a midrange tented camp in the Ndutu region.

Day 6

Full Day in Ndutu

Spend the full day exploring Ndutu with morning and afternoon game drives. Depending on the season, this area may host extensive wildebeest calving activity, which attracts increased predator presence. Even outside migration months, Ndutu maintains healthy resident wildlife populations.

The varied landscape of woodlands, grasslands, and shallow lakes supports elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and diverse birdlife. A picnic lunch is served during the day, allowing continuous game viewing. In the evening, return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Ndutu – Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, you depart Ndutu and proceed to the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival, you descend approximately 600 meters into the crater for a half-day game drive within this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The crater floor hosts a dense and stable population of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, and hyenas. It is one of Tanzania’s most reliable areas for observing the endangered black rhino. The enclosed ecosystem, combining grasslands, freshwater pools, and acacia woodland, supports around 25,000 animals year-round.

After a picnic lunch inside the crater, you ascend to the rim and begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon, marking the conclusion of your 7-day safari with WAZO SAFARIS.
