Full Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a drive toward Lake Manyara National Park, located beneath the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley.
Although compact in size, Lake Manyara is known for its ecological diversity. Dense groundwater forests, open grasslands, and the shallow alkaline lake create varied habitats supporting a wide range of wildlife. During your game drive, you may encounter elephants moving through the forest, large troops of baboons, giraffes browsing acacia trees, and hippos resting in the lake. The park is also recognized for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior occasionally observed here. Birdlife is abundant, particularly along the lakeshore where flamingos and pelicans gather.
After a picnic lunch inside the park and continued afternoon exploration, you proceed to your selected midrange lodge in the Karatu or Ngorongoro highlands area for dinner and overnight.

Day 2
Karatu – Tarangire National Park
Following breakfast, you drive to Tarangire National Park, approximately two to three hours away. Tarangire is distinguished by its open savannah, seasonal swamps, and towering baobab trees that dominate the landscape.
The park is particularly famous for its large elephant population, often seen in impressive family groups. The Tarangire River acts as a permanent water source, attracting buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and numerous antelope species. Lions are frequently observed resting in shaded areas or moving through tall grasses in search of prey.
A picnic lunch is served within the park, allowing uninterrupted game viewing. In the late afternoon, you return to your midrange lodge for dinner and overnight, enjoying a comfortable environment after a full day in the field.

Day 3
Tarangire Area – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you depart for Serengeti National Park, traveling through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive offers scenic transitions from cultivated highlands to vast open plains as you enter the Serengeti ecosystem.
Upon arrival, you begin a game drive en route to your lodge. The Serengeti is internationally recognized for its expansive grasslands and remarkable concentration of wildlife. Lions are commonly seen resting on rocky kopjes, cheetahs patrol the plains, and leopards inhabit riverine woodlands. Large herds of wildebeests and zebras roam freely, and depending on the season, you may observe segments of the Great Wildebeest Migration.
Dinner and overnight are at a midrange tented camp or lodge in Central Serengeti, offering comfort while maintaining proximity to prime wildlife areas.

Day 4
Full Day in Serengeti National Park
This day is dedicated entirely to exploring the Serengeti. Morning and afternoon game drives provide extended time to track wildlife across different sections of the park.
Early mornings offer excellent opportunities to observe predators such as lions and leopards while they are most active. Throughout the day, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, buffalo, hyenas, and a wide range of antelope species. Birdlife adds further richness to the experience.
A picnic lunch is enjoyed inside the park, allowing for continuous exploration without returning to camp during the day. Your guide will adjust routes according to wildlife movements to maximize sightings. In the late afternoon, you return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5
Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, you depart the Serengeti and drive toward the Ngorongoro Crater, descending approximately 600 meters to the crater floor for a half-day game drive.
The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most concentrated wildlife habitats. Within this natural volcanic caldera, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, and hyenas. It is also one of the most reliable locations in Tanzania for observing the endangered black rhino. The crater’s unique combination of grasslands, freshwater lakes, and woodland areas supports a stable and diverse ecosystem.
After a picnic lunch, you ascend to the crater rim and begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon, where your safari with WAZO SAFARIS concludes.
