Full Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a drive of approximately two to three hours to Tarangire National Park. The park is recognized for its impressive elephant populations, vast savannah landscapes, and ancient baobab trees that dominate the skyline.
Upon arrival, you begin your game drive through open grasslands and along the Tarangire River, which serves as a key water source attracting wildlife throughout the year. Elephants are frequently observed in large family groups, while lions may be seen resting beneath acacia trees or scanning the plains. Giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and numerous bird species are commonly encountered.
A picnic lunch is served within the park before continuing with afternoon game viewing. In the late afternoon, you depart for your selected midrange lodge near the Ngorongoro highlands or Karatu area, where you will enjoy a comfortable room, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2
Tarangire Area – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you begin your journey toward Serengeti National Park, passing through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands. The drive offers changing landscapes, from cultivated hills to wide-open plains, gradually transitioning into the Serengeti ecosystem.
Upon entering the Serengeti, you immediately begin your game drive en route to your lodge. The Serengeti is globally recognized for its vast plains and remarkable concentration of wildlife. Lions are commonly found resting on rocky kopjes, cheetahs patrol the open grasslands, and large herds of wildebeests and zebras roam freely across the savannah. Depending on the season, you may witness segments of the Great Wildebeest Migration.
In the evening, you arrive at your midrange tented camp or lodge inside Central Serengeti, where you will enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation in a comfortable setting that blends nature with modern convenience.

Day 3
Full Day in Serengeti National Park
This day is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti in greater depth. Morning and afternoon game drives allow you to cover different areas of the park, maximizing wildlife encounters.
Early morning hours are particularly productive for observing predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas. Throughout the day, you may encounter elephants moving across the plains, giraffes browsing acacia trees, buffalo grazing in large groups, and numerous antelope species. Birdlife is abundant, adding further diversity to the experience.
A picnic lunch is enjoyed within the park, allowing uninterrupted game viewing. Your guide will adjust routes according to wildlife movements to ensure optimal sightings. In the late afternoon, you return to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4
Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, you depart the Serengeti and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon arrival, you descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive.
The crater floor hosts one of Africa’s densest wildlife populations within a confined area. Lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, and hyenas are frequently seen. The Ngorongoro Crater is also one of the most reliable locations in Tanzania to spot the endangered black rhino. Its combination of open grasslands, freshwater pools, and acacia woodlands creates a balanced ecosystem supporting thousands of animals year-round.
After a picnic lunch near a hippo pool, you ascend the crater rim and begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon where your safari with WAZO SAFARIS concludes.
