8 Days Lemosho Route
Safari Overview
One of the greatest paths for acclimatisation is the Lemosho trail. This less-traveled path offers stunning views as it ascends to the Shira Plateau. Because buffalo, elephants, and other species live in the forests surrounding the Lemosho Glades, this route is one of the few where groups may be accompanied on the first day by an armed ranger.
Eight days Among the highest success percentages is Lemosho. The extra days let your body to adjust to the higher altitude, lessening the symptoms of altitude sickness and providing you with more time to recover before making the summit attempt.

Day 1
HOTEL TO MTI MKUBWA CAMP
trip to Londorossi Park Gate (approximately a 3-hour trip) after breakfast and briefing. From here, Lemosho Glades can be reached via a woodland track that needs a 4WD vehicle. Follow the forest trails to the campground at Mti Mkubwa (large tree).

Day 2
MTI MKUBWA CAMP TO SHIRA 1 CAMP
After breakfast, we continue as the trail gradually steepens and enters the giant heather moorland zone. After several streams are crossed we continue over the Shira Ridge then gently downwards to Shira 1 camp located by a stream on the Shira Plateau.

Day 3
SHIRA 1 CAMP TO SHIRA 2 CAMP
Shira 2 camp is situated on moorland meadows beside a stream, and it may be reached after a leisurely walk across the plateau. The Plateau offers a wide range of walks, so this is a great day to acclimatise.

Day 4
SHIRA 2 CAMP TO BARRANCO CAMP
We proceed eastward along a ridge from the Shira Plateau, going beyond the intersection and up towards Kibo’s peak. Moving forward, we shift our course to the southeast in the direction of the Lava Tower, also known as the “Shark’s Tooth” (elevation 4650 meters/15,250 feet). The second junction, leading to the Arrow Glacier, is located not far from the tower. We are presently heading towards the Barranco Camp. This day is crucial for acclimatisation and will assist your body get ready for summit day, even though you finish the day at roughly the same elevation as when you started.

Day 5
BARRANCO CAMP TO KARANGA CAMP
Following breakfast, we depart from Barranco and ascend the Barranco Wall along a difficult slope to reach the Karanga Valley and the intersection with the Mweka Trail.

Day 6
KARANGA CAMP TO BARAFU CAMP
Up to the Barafu Camp, we go. The South Circuit, which provides a variety of perspectives of the summit, is now complete. Here, we set up camp, relax, eat dinner, and get ready for the day of the summit.

Day 7
BARAFU CAMP TO SUMMIT TO MWEKA CAMP
We proceed to the peak between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers between midnight and two in the morning. You make your way to Stella Point on the crater rim by heading northwest and climbing over dense scree. This is the hardest part of the walk, both physically and mentally. You will pause for a little rest at Stella Point, where you will be treated to the most spectacular sunrise you have probably ever seen. Those who walk more quickly can see the sunrise from the top.
On your one-hour journey to the summit from Stella Point, snow may be encountered the entire time. You have arrived at the highest point on both the African continent and Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak
We start our descent from the summit by going straight down to the Mweka Camp, with a lunch break at Barafu. Trekking poles and gaiters can be useful on the loose gravel descent. Upon reaching Mweka Camp, we relish our final night on the peak.

Day 8
MWEKA CAMP TO MWEKA GATE
Following breakfast, we proceed to the Mweka Park Gate where you may pick up your summit certificates. It can be muddy and damp at lower altitudes. Trekking poles and gaiters will be useful. You should probably wear plenty of shorts and t-shirts (have warmer clothes and rain gear accessible).
When you arrive at Mweka Gate, Our van will be waiting to take you back to your Moshi accommodation (around 60 minutes).
